About the role

The ideal candidate has experience working for an insurance, reinsurance, or consulting company, or the government in pricing, reserving, modeling, and underwriting insurance or reinsurance coverages. Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The qualification requirements listed below must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Basic Requirements A bachelor's degree that included courses in actuarial science, mathematics, relevant statistics, business, finance, economics, insurance, or computer science totaling at least 24 semester hours. This course work must have included a minimum of 12 semester hours of mathematics that included differential and integral calculus and one or more courses in mathematics for which these calculus courses were prerequisites. OR A course of educational study as described: Minimum of 24 semester hours of courses in actuarial science, mathematics, relevant statistics, business, finance, economics, insurance, or computer science at a four year college or university. This course work must have included a minimum of 12 semester hours of mathematics that included differential and integral calculus and one or more courses in mathematics for which these calculus courses were prerequisites. AND Associateship in the Society of Actuaries or the Casualty Actuarial Society or being an Enrolled Actuary. AND Specialized Experience: To qualify for this position at the GS-13 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following: Working as a professional actuary; AND Designing and implementing actuarial studies, analyses, or projections; AND Providing actuarial advice and communications for actuarial projects.
