The primary purpose of this position is to serves as Deputy Director of Staff (DS, one of organizations under the Command Staff) for the Air Force Installations and Mission Support Center (AFIMSC) and working with the Director of Staff (a Colonel or equivalent position) exercising the full scope of responsibility for managing the activities of the directorate. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-03, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-13 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience in ability to lead organizational initiatives, establish, revise, and review policies and procedures and mission objectives. Promotes team building, while exercising supervisory personnel management, implementing quality improvements, and scheduling/assigning work while providing excellent customer service. . NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the principles, theories, techniques, practices, mission and organizational structure of staff operations management concepts, principles, and methodologies to carry out management responsibilities. Knowledge of military command structure, missions, programs and organizational relationships and program goals and objectives, the sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones and methods of evaluating and planning actions as related to actual events. Knowledge of both civilian and military protocol, etiquette manuals and guides, USAF and AFIMSC policies, regulations and procedures. Knowledge of personnel management, EEO, safety, and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions, and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff, of an organization through subordinate supervisors, as well as deal with people tactfully and diplomatically and communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately, both orally and in writing. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. Skill in basic analytical ability to discern short, medium and long-term effects of changes in practices, procedures and policies, and to effectively analyze the various components of operations as part of an integrated whole. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
