Responsibilities
- The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Emergency Department (ED) is responsible for:
- Provide direct patient care, including taking vital signs, administering medications, and performing basic medical procedures as permitted by state regulations.
- Assist in the triage process by gathering patient information and documenting symptoms and medical histories.
- Monitor and report changes in patient condition to RNs and physicians.
- Assist with wound care, IV therapy, splinting, and other procedures as directed.
- Support patients and families by providing education and emotional reassurance during critical situations.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care.
- Uphold infection control practices and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Participate in emergency response situations and contribute to team efforts during critical events.
- Restock supplies and ensure the emergency department is prepared for patient care.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Nursing Diploma
- Licensed Practical Nurse-NM or out of state compact LPN license
- BLS required at time of hire
