Responsibilities
- As an integral member of the Radiation Medicine Program (RMP) Radiation Therapy (RT) Leadership Team, the main responsibilities of the RT Clinical Educator include the following:
- Utilizes relevant educational theories and demonstrates high standards of clinical practice knowledge
- Facilitates the optimal delivery of the departmental RT Education Program within RMP, which provides and facilitates clinical training and education initiatives for qualified radiation therapists and undergraduate students in the Medical Radiation Sciences Program at the University of Toronto
- Develops, designs, coordinates and delivers training and education programs related to the development, evaluation and implementation of new techniques/equipment and new treatment modalities, which supports the delivery of the care mandate of RMP.
- Assesses, develops, implements and evaluates patient education programs, including learning resources, across the organization.
- Utilizes research data in this process to advocate for excellent and holistic care for patients and families in all levels of the health care system.
- Participates in quality programs and initiatives of RMP while practicing and ensuring Continuous Quality Improvement
- Contributes to the recruitment and selection of staff and staff retention strategies
- Acts as a leader/role model, and a resource performing other duties consistent with the job classification as required
- Education
- Minimum Required:
- BSc in Radiation Therapy
- Completion of a recognized Master's degree program in Science or Education
- Years of Experience
- Minimum Required:
- 5 years' experience in area of practice
- Previous leadership experience
- Previous experience with design of education courses
- Teaching/coaching experience
- Certifications / Professional Designations
- Minimum Required:
- Hold, or be eligible to obtain, certification with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
- Be a member of, or eligible for membership in, the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)
