Major Job Responsibilities Plan and teach effective and engaging swimming lessons using learner-centered approaches that appeal to a variety of preferred learning styles Coach and teach participants of all ages and abilities using age-appropriate activities and techniques; adapt teaching approaches to the specific needs and abilities of each participant Evaluate and record skill performance and progress of participants using the continuous evaluation approach throughout each program Supervise participants and maintain complete vigilance to minimize risks, and be ready to respond at all times Enforce the pool rules through communication with participants as required; educate participants about safe behaviour at the pool and during lessons Follow policies and procedures as outlined in the staff manual in all decision making, program planning and public relations Establish positive relationships and work cooperatively with staff and participants in maintaining a high level of morale and ensuring clear communication Report all minor and major accidents, problems, disturbances, incidents and site damage to your supervisor, ensuring all appropriate forms are filled out accurately and completely Comply with all health and safety practices as it relates to the work, standard operating guidelines and the Occupational Health and Safety Act Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with department objectives.
