Responsibilities

  • Operating mooring related aids such as capstans and vehicles to assist in the safe berthing of vessels;
  • Participating in minor maintenance projects related to maintenance of Flinders Ports assets such as wharfs, buildings, general areas and launches either in a team or individually in accordance with skills and qualifications;

  • Your skills and experience will include;
  • Ability and experience working both independently with limited supervision, and within a multi skilled team environment;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Must be willing and able to work in diverse weather conditions;
  • Experience carrying out minor maintenance activities and in the use of general plant and equipment;
  • Current Driver's Licence;
  • Competent literacy and computer skills and experience using Windows applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel; and
  • Knowledge of WHS practices that apply to general labouring work.
  • This role includes physical duties such as lifting up to 20-25kg and requires good upper body strength and cardiovascular endurance.

Role Overview Reporting directly to the Marine Services Team Leader you will be working as part of a motivated team responsible for the safe mooring of vessels to service shipping and operational needs, as well as performing general maintenance duties as required. This is a casual role where the hours are dependent on the requirements of the Port - fluctuating and sporadic. The successful applicant will be comfortable with working unpredictable and varied hours to accommodate customer requirements and vessel schedules.
