Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge of and performs department exam protocols. Explains process to patient, and instructs and assists patient in assuming physical position for examination.
  • Accurately enters required data into Lumedx (PACS) system.
  • Completes and participates in Quality Improvement evaluation as needed/assigned.
  • Starts equipment, which produces images of internal organs and records diagnostic data on magnetic tape, computer disk, strip printout, or film. Photographs images of organs shown on display module, or removes strip printout from equipment, to obtain permanent record of internal examination.
  • Disinfects equipment and area.
  • Participates in training of Washburn University students as directed.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and performs proper high-level disinfection processes for probe care. (If applicable)
  • Cardiac Sonographers Perform IV puncture, utilizing proper injection techniques while injecting endocardial border enhancing agents.
  • Rotating call is a requirement of the position. (Manhattan/Emporia exempt from call)
  • Selects and adds correct associated examination charges as needed.
  • Displays a professional appearance.

Position Status: Full time Shift: First Shift (Days - Less than 12 hours per shift) (United States of America) Hours per week: 40 Job Information Exemption Status: Non-Exempt A Brief Overview Produces two-dimensional and three-dimensional ultrasonic recordings of internal organs for use by physicians in diagnosis of disease and study of malfunction of organs by performing the following duties. Education Qualifications Completion of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program through an accredited organization or on the job training in ultrasound that led to registry. Required Experience Qualifications Customer service experience. Preferred Experience in Ultrasound Preferred Experience in a hospital or clinical setting. Preferred Skills and Abilities Experience utilizing imaging equipment Licenses and Certifications Registry Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - ARDMS ARDMS-Sonography or CCI-Sonography or ARRT-Sonography are also accepted dependent upon department. Required Basic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days of hire.
