Strategic Buyer - Direct

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement activities for direct materials (e.g., raw materials) using SAP
• Review supplier quotations, conduct price negotiations, perform cost analysis, and plan/execute cost reduction initiatives
• Supplier selection, contract management, and vendor management
• Participate in global projects led by the Japan procurement team (e.g., cost reduction, system improvements)
• Handle procurement-related operations in Japan, including audits, contract management, and environmental initiatives

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement
• Experience handling food, chemical, or raw materials is preferred (including experience at trading companies)
• Business-level English proficiency (capable of participating in meetings, reporting, and daily communication)
• Experience using ERP / procurement systems (SAP experience is a plus)
• Strong data analysis skills using Excel (e.g., functions, pivot tables)
• Ability to communicate logically with both internal and external stakeholders
• Proactive and self-motivated approach to problem-solving
