About the role

Medcan Health Management is seeking Locum Physicians to support Year-Round Care (YRC) (Urgent Care) and/or Dedicated Care (Rostered) practices. Shifts very based on need and availability, anywhere from 1 shift per month (Saturdays or Sundays) to 24 hours per week. Shifts would be scheduled during Medcan's clinic operating hours (Monday - Sunday, 8am - 6pm) Opportunities to support the clinic in Etobicoke (3250 Bloor Street West) and/or York Mills (4120 Yonge Street).

Responsibilities

  • Year Round Care:
  • Provide screening and primary care health services for Medcan patients
  • Based on history and physical examination provide clinical guidance and recommendations
  • Evaluate the patient's health, make diagnoses on clinical conditions, prescribe, and administer medications, treatments, and follow-up care with internal or external specialists
  • Educate, advise, and empower patients on primary and secondary preventive health care
  • Provide counseling and support to patients on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues
  • Participate in Medcan business initiatives including continuing medical education, innovation, research, product development, support, and guidance
  • Dedicated Care:
  • Provide in-depth, compassionate and preventative primary care to a relatively small patient roster.
  • Build strong relationships with your patients and take the time to understand all interconnected aspects of their health and wellness journey.
  • Uncover insights from same-day testing conducted by our dedicated team to provide clinical recommendations and health guidance for your patients.
  • Create compressive treatment plans and leave referrals and other administrative duties to our dedicated team.
  • Engage with and learn from our extensive team through daily lunches, on-site continuing medical education, and all other innovative product development initiatives on the go at Medcan.

Requirements

  • Strong service-minded approach to providing excellent comprehensive care
  • Empathetic and collaborative working style to engage our diverse group of internal and external stakeholders
  • Commit to working at Medcan for a minimum (1) days per week (one virtual day could be considered).
  • Ability to maintain a patient roster within (1) month of onboarding.
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
  • An active OHIP billing number
  • CCFP designation, CCFP (EM) designation or FRCPC designation
  • Experience in preventive care and wellness is an asset
  • Remuneration for this role will be in the range of $190 - $230/hr, dependent on number of days worked and patient volume.
