More about the role: We are seeking an experienced Editor to join our English Editorial Team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role is central to elevating overall content quality, ensuring strategic alignment, and maintaining message consistency across all client deliverables. You will be a key player in refining content, from basic materials to high-level op-eds and speeches, making a significant impact on our clients' reputation. As a primary content quality checkpoint, you will not only provide direct, responsive support to account teams but also contribute to the professional development of junior talent. Your expertise will be crucial in strategic discussions, ensuring content always meets the highest standards and aligns with client objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Take direct briefs from account teams, ensuring a deep understanding of client objectives to minimise rework.
  • Edit, refine, and improve first drafts of various content types, including PRLs and media announcements.
  • Draft more complex content from scratch, such as op-eds, speeches, and multi-media scripts.
  • Act as a primary content quality checkpoint for assigned accounts, upholding Burson's high standards.
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to Junior Editors and account team members on their writing.
  • Actively participate in project kick-offs and strategy discussions where content is a central element.
  • Experience that contributes to success:
  • Proven experience in professional editing, proofreading, and quality control within a communications or agency setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex client briefs and translate them into impactful content.
  • Experience in drafting and refining various content formats, including strategic thought leadership pieces.
  • Strong understanding of strategic alignment and message consistency in corporate communications.
  • Capability to provide effective mentorship and constructive feedback to junior team members.
  • Experience participating in and contributing to project strategy discussions.
