The NC Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services is seeking a dedicated Administrative Specialist to join our Structural Pest Control and Pesticides Division. This role provides critical support throughout all three of the Division's Sections: Pesticides, Structural Pest Control, and Sleep Products, as well as functioning within the Division's Administrative Unit in meeting the Division's goals and responsibilities under its three primary statutory authorities. This position has comprehensive responsibilities with respect to reporting Division activities and ensuring compliance with established protocols. This position will work closely with the Administrative Team Manager (Administrative Officer II), coordinating administrative functions including Division-wide purchasing, procurement of large ticket items, fleet insurance and other duties related to the Division's activities.
Responsibilities
- Administrative Support: aiding the Director, Deputy Directors, the Sleep Products Administrator and the other Division program managers in researching, developing projects, generating reports.
- N.C Pesticide Board support: Coordinate meeting logistics assist with ethics and economic interest submissions, prepare minutes, support Board members. Serve as back up to the Structural Pest Control Committee.
- Correspondence Management: The employee must carry out all duties with professionalism and demonstrate clear, effective oral and written communication with external stakeholders, as well as federal and state partners, while serving as a representative of NCDACS.
- Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
- Recruitment Range: $39,244 - $50,000
- Skill in the accurate interpretation and application of procedural guidelines, and policies that support both technical and administrative areas of assigned work.
- Must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills and consistently convey information in a clear, professional manner.
- This individual should have good organizational skills in managing workflow and coordinating activities.
- This individual must have the knowledge and ability to utilize MS Office software, NCFS, E-Procurement. and NCFS.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental staff, division staff and lawyers, state government officials, and external customers.
