About the role

This position is located in the Office of Behavioral Intervention (OBI) within CSOSA. OBI oversees a complex array of evidence-based assessments, evaluations, and cognitive behavior interventions, as well as innovative practices, and case management services that collectively are designed to mitigate recidivism risk factors, quickly match offenders to appropriate services, and sustain positive change throughout the offender's supervision lifecycle and continuum of care. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: A. Successful completion of a full four-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in the behavioral or social sciences, or in a related discipline that included at least 24 semester/36 quarter hours in the behavioral or social sciences. OR B. Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR C. Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. NOTE: Transcripts are required for all claimed education. ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: In addition to meeting the basic entry qualification requirement, applicants must have specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as providing domestic violence intervention services to high-risk offenders; facilitating and adapting cognitive-behavioral and abuse-intervention programming; managing complex domestic-violence cases and conducting offender and victim risk and lethality assessments; coordinating intervention strategies with multidisciplinary teams; and contributing to program improvements and agency domestic-violence initiatives. Selective Placement Factor: This position has a bilingual selective factor. You must be able to communicate in both English and Spanish in order to be considered for the position. If you indicate language proficiency, you may be tested at some point in the hiring process to determine if you possess the required level of proficiency. If you are unable to demonstrate proficiency, you will lose consideration for this position. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 or higher grade in Federal Service. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
