Counsellor

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments and develop individualized care plans for youths experiencing emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges
• Provide individual (or group counselling) using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and trauma-informed care
• Deliver family counselling and caregiver support to strengthen home environments
• Assess and manage risk (e.g., self-harm, suicide, abuse) and implement appropriate intervention and safeguarding procedures
• Collaborate with schools, social service agencies, and healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
• Plan and facilitate mental health workshops, outreach programmes, and preventive initiatives in the community
• Maintain accurate and timely case documentation in accordance with agency and regulatory standards
• Participate in case conferences, supervision, and ongoing professional development

Requirements

• Graduate Diploma/Bachelor's/Masters degree in Counselling, or Psychotherapy from an accredited college or university
• Relevant experience working with youths or in mental health settings preferred
• Strong interpersonal and engagement skills with adolescents and families
• Training in evidence-based therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT) is an advantage
• Ability to manage crisis situations with professionalism and sound judgment
• Familiarity with Singapore's social service sector is a plus
• Preferably candidates with a good command of Mandarin to communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients and relevant experience working with youths
