About the role

Responsibilities
- Casework and Counselling:
- Conduct intake sessions, provide information and referral service
- Conduct holistic psychosocial assessments
- Provide casework support and coordinate care for client
- Provide counselling support, psychoeducation about illness, treatment and survivorship care
- Work collaboratively with healthcare multi-disciplinary team, schools and community partners and other survivor communities to ensure integrated care
- Intervene and provide appropriate and timely support in client crisis situations
- Coordinate financial assistance and connect families with available resources and support systems
- Maintain timely, accurate and confidential case recordings
- Participate actively in case discussions, supervision and reflective practice to support professional development
- Groups, Community Engagement & Connection Building:
- Contribute to the design of groups, community development and programmes to build social networks and support for children with cancer and their families, and improving access to information and resources
- Support the planning and implementation of psychosocial programmes such as therapeutic support groups, family events, peer and caregiver social groups, and educational support initiatives in both the hospital and community settings
- Facilitate peer and caregiver connections of families with shared experiences, interests, or stages of the treatment and survivorship journey, with a survivorship focused lens
- Collect and analyse programme statistics, feedback and outcomes to evaluate programme effectiveness and review for improvement
- Manage and set programme budgets
- Coordinate logistics, volunteers, partner involvement and client participation
- Build and maintain relationships with partners, volunteers and stakeholders
Requirements
- Degree in Social Work or Graduate Diploma in Social Work (from SUSS and NUS)
- Fresh graduates are welcome to apply
- Interest in growing and understanding of casework management, basic counselling principles and psychosocial assessment, groups and community development theories
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and active-listening skills, with empathy and emotional maturity
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- Competent in documentation and data handling, proficiency in common office applications
- Proficiency in English; a second language is an advantage
- Interest in working with children and youth with cancer and their families
- Demonstrates genuine warmth, sensitivity, and confidence in engaging with children and families across backgrounds, and emotional states
- Shows commitment, initiative and reliability in managing daily responsibilities
- Resilient and able to work in emotionally demanding situations, including palliative and bereavement work
- Works effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work across community, hospital, and home-based settings, and occasional evenings/weekends for programmes and events
