About the Position: Sierra Army Depot is located in Herlong CA, a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. The depot serves as an Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center. Employees work Mon-Thurs, 0630-1700 hrs. Youth Facilities and childcare available. Mass transportation is available at minimal cost. Surrounding area boasts a full range of outdoor sports/recreation activities. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Motor Vehicle Operator ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common which includes operating material handling equipment to stack palletized items in a safe manner, transporting heavy materials over irregular surfaces to load containers, and managing container loads onto rail cars for commercial transit. I can operate truck tractors to transport general supplies within the depot, and stack shipping containers with material handling equipment to ensure accessibility. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT Physical effort is required to turn the larger and heavier type vehicle, in addition to the smaller vehicles, and to operate the controls. Frequent handling of objects weighing 40 pounds while loading or unloading; making couplings between vehicles such as using heavy chains, bars, hooks, etc., which must be lifted and properly secured. Requires a physical. WORKING CONDITIONS Vehicles are operated in all types of traffic and weather on depot and public roads. The operator is exposed to the danger of serious accidents.
