About the role
The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) serves as the IT hub of the U.S. Department of Labor. We develop, maintain and protect IT solutions and data across our 27 agencies to enable mission outcomes through technology and service. Qualifying specialized experience for GS-15 includes: Experience with leading large, multidisciplinary technical teams and enterprise programs to deliver complex AI, cloud, IT modernization, and enterprise technology solutions. Experience with establishing and overseeing enterprise AI governance, including policies, standards, intake, prioritization, risk reviews, lifecycle monitoring, compliance tracking, and responsible AI controls. Experience with directing AI and emerging technology initiatives from strategy through operational adoption, including prototyping, pilots, testing, deployment, and lifecycle management on modern cloud platforms. Experience with serving as a technical subject-matter expert in AI/ML, generative AI, cloud platforms, enterprise architecture, data ecosystems, automation, and modern engineering practices. Experience with translating mission, policy, legal, cybersecurity, privacy, data, and business requirements into technical execution through standards, architecture roadmaps, implementation plans, governance controls, and cloud-native solutions using APIs, microservices, DevSecOps, MLOps/LLMOps, secure SDLC, automation, and advanced data engineering.
