Job Description Summary Organization's Summary Statement: Three Postdoctoral Associates positions are available at the Department of Veterinary Medicine, Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Maryland (UMD) College Park, located just outside Washington, DC. The Department of Veterinary Medicine at UMD is home to numerous excellent scientists in the field of human and veterinary microbiology, immunology, and infectious diseases. The department provides an excellent research environment and advanced research facilities, including BSL3/ ABSL3 suites, to support cutting-edge infectious diseases research. The lab of Dr. Meiqing Shi, Professor, has an overall research focus on host-pathogen interactions, with a particular emphasis on fungal immunology and fungal pathogenesis. The lab uses animal models, molecular and cellular biology techniques, and intravital imaging to understand how Cryptococcus neoformans interacts with the host immune system and causes inflammation and disease, and how the immune cells fight against the fungus. The successful candidates are expected to work independently as well as in an interactive and dynamic team environment, with good written and oral communication skills.
