With a strong and growing pipeline of work in the metals processing sector, this role will see you lead brownfield mechanical upgrades and capital works across operating metals processing facilities-working from early-phase studies through to detailed design and site support. Based in Melbourne, this senior role offers real technical and client-facing leadership: you'll own critical mechanical and piping work packages, influence outcomes with pragmatic engineering judgement, and mentor developing engineers as part of a trusted, high-performing team. Project focus: brownfield metals processing capital & sustaining capital engineering studies and design projects Role scope: package leadership, multi-discipline coordination, client partnering, team mentoring What you'll get: flexible working, strong development support, employee ownership About You This role is suited to a degree‑qualified Mechanical Engineer whose core experience is within the minerals and metals processing industry, delivering engineering studies, detailed design, and capital works across operating process plants. You will bring strong technical capability, excellent communication skills, and the confidence to influence outcomes-both within project teams and with clients. Previous on-site experience and consulting experience will be well-regarded. While each project you work on will be different in scope and scale, this role will see you: Lead mechanical and piping work packages, including the specification, selection, and integration of process plant equipment Apply practical, pragmatic engineering judgement to develop robust, fit‑for‑purpose technical solutions Build trusted, long‑term relationships with clients by understanding their operations and translating business needs into successful project outcomes Play an active role in shaping the mechanical team's technical capability and long‑term strategic direction including mentoring and developing junior engineers Work alongside site‑based engineering teams on capital projects, with flexibility to travel and support clients in operational environments You'll join a supportive, inclusive, and high‑performing team that values technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
