About the role

Location : Hammersmith Campus ( East Acton ) - Fully onsite About the role : We are looking for a engaging Research Associate to work on an exciting research project funded by the Medical Research Council and located within the Centre for Haematology . You will be based within the group of Dr Deena Iskander , an MRC Clinician Science Fellow, who has a research focus on erythropoiesis and Diamond-Blackfan anaemia syndrome (DBAS). DBAS is a complex ribosomal disease causing a spectrum of clinical manifestations, including severe childhood anaemia and cancer. You will be working on a project that looks to understand the mechanisms of anaemia and leukaemia development in DBAS to improve diagnostics, treatment pathways, and clinical outcome. What you would be doing : You will be based in a vibrant research environment and group of academics, clinicians, and students. Your research focus will be developing DBAS human disease models such as bone marrow organoids and conducting advanced cellular and molecular analyses. You will also provide bioinformatic support for sequencing analysis and will have supervisory responsibility within the Iskander group. What we are looking for : You should have a PhD degree (or equivalent) in Haematology, or a related discipline. If you have not yet been officially awarded your PhD, you will be appointed as a Research Assistant. You should have experience of working in a laboratory research environment and have experience in a broad range of laboratory techniques, including multicolour flow cytometry. You should ideally have one or more first/joint first author publication (accepted or under review).
