About the role

You will serve as a Industrial Equipment Mechanic in the Public Works Department, Naval Station Newport, of Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Mid-Atlantic. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision performing duties including: 1) Installs, replace, adjust and set various regulating or safety devices such as meters, gauges, mechanical/hydraulic governors, electrical/electronic governors and automatic alarms; 2) Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering and manufacturing specifications and other such controlling criteria; 3) Determines the cause of malfunctions and makes repairs to a variety of machinery and equipment which have mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems, controls and features; and 4) Understands how various mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic and fuel systems work together.
