Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with controller, firmware, hardware, and validation engineering teams to translate architectural intent into successful execution, demonstrating strong collaboration and stakeholder alignment.
  • Influence and guide cross-functional teams through complex technical challenges, exercising leadership through influence without direct authority.
  • Communicate architectural direction, trade-offs, and recommendations clearly to both technical and executive audiences, demonstrating strong communication and executive presence.
  • Innovation, Continuous Improvement & Industry Leadership
  • Drive innovation by proactively identifying and incorporating emerging technologies, industry trends, and competitive insights into architectural decisions.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across product design, engineering processes, and architectural methodologies, fostering a culture of innovation and operational excellence.
  • Mentor and develop engineers and architects, strengthening organizational capability and promoting technical growth and leadership development.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in embedded systems architecture and design, with hands-on contributions to ASIC and/or firmware development.

Requirements

  • Master's degree (MS) or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Deep expertise in one or more SSD architecture domains (e.g., PCIe/NVMe, memory controller, CPU complex).
  • Strong understanding of enterprise storage system architecture, including performance optimization, scalability, and reliability considerations.
  • Proven experience driving hardware/software partitioning decisions and system-level architectural trade-offs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives and influence cross-functional teams at scale.
  • Experience in performance modeling, characterization, and QoS optimization for data center storage solutions.
  • The compensation range for this role is $196,240 - $314,000. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
  • This is a Hybrid role reporting onsite in Rancho Cordova California 3 days per week. Alternate work locations for the role include: San Jose CA, Longmont CO, and Vancouver BC CAN.

As a SSD Architect within Solidigm's SSD Architecture organization, you will lead the definition and evolution of domain-level architecture for next-generation data center SSD solutions. This role is accountable for setting architectural vision, driving end-to-end system design decisions, and influencing cross-functional engineering execution to deliver high-performance, scalable, and competitive enterprise storage products. You will operate at the intersection of system architecture, silicon design, and firmware development-leveraging deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and strong cross-functional leadership to shape product direction and drive innovation aligned with business objectives.
