Term: 1 Year Job Description: Primary Purpose The International Community Engagement Coordinator is accountable to the Specialist, International Student Programs. The coordinator is responsible for the overall development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive and intentional programming targeted to international student populations specifically those with a Chinese background. The coordinator will function primarily in the areas of student experience, programming, event management, and administrative capacities. The coordinator works collaboratively with the International Student Experience team, the Marketing and Communications team, and the broader Student Success Office on issues related to international student experience. These include but are not limited to, research relating to: issues of Chinese student integration, engaging underrepresented student populations who are being targeted by external organizations, current student programming, best practices at other institutions, and developing and delivering intentional and engaging programming for international students. This coordinator will have three primary areas of focus: 1) conduct and summarize a comprehensive review of best practices/literature, environmental scan of the U15, and any other relevant data (including student feedback) related to current student programming and the Chinese student experience; 2) organize, coordinate, and lead the execution of all components of small and large-scale international student programming, including special populations (Chinese student populations); and 3) maintain positive and productive working relationships with students and key campus and faculty partners. The Coordinator will work closely with the Specialist, International Student Programs to execute their primary areas of focus. Key Accountabilities Program Administration and Development - Responsible for the overall coordination, development and delivery of International Student Experience programs that meet the sociocultural, demographic and informational needs of Chinese international students. - Be knowledgeable and remain abreast of the needs of Chinese, racialized and historically underrepresented students including best practices at other institutions, current research, and trends, and forecasting future development. - Responsible for the development of new and the expansion/revision of current programs that support the successful transition, and ongoing engagement, of international students, including Chinese students. - Be knowledgeable of the unique needs of the varying international student populations and work closely with campus and Faculty partners to ensure the continual relevance, timeliness, and effectiveness of programs in supporting international students. - Develops and maintains program documentation outlining program goals, outcomes and ongoing progress Program Evaluation - Coordinates the collection of information (participant feedback, attendance numbers, etc.) to provide recommendations for future program adjustments and considerations. - Monitors programs through session feedback forms. Responds to feedback in a timely and effective manner. - Provide clear and consistent documentation and communication related to assigned programs termly, annually and as required. - In collaboration with others, contributes program evaluation and assessment for all programs in the portfolio, to anticipate future programming needs and requirements. This includes but is not limited to survey administration, developing program outcomes, and inputting relevant information into SSO databases as needed.
