JOB PURPOSE PHINIA is seeking an IT Simulation Analyst to support, optimize, and enhance engineering simulation environments, CAE tools, and digital engineering workflows. This role ensures reliable operation of simulation applications, high‑performance compute resources, and data integration across CAD/PLM/CAE systems. The analyst will partner with Engineering, IT Infrastructure, and Application teams to enable efficient simulation processes and support PHINIA's digital product development initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Provide operational support for engineering simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, Altair Hyperworks, MATLAB/Simulink, GT‑Suite, or PHINIA‑specific applications), ensuring stability, performance, and usability.
- Support installation, configuration, version upgrades, license management, plugin integrations, and performance tuning of CAE applications across global engineering teams.
- Collaborate with engineering and CAE users to streamline simulation workflows, improve job execution reliability, reduce waiting times, and enhance model/data availability.
- Maintain and support IT components underpinning simulation workloads, including HPC clusters, compute nodes, GPU resources, job schedulers (PBS Pro), shared storage, and license servers.
- Support integration of CAE environments with CAD/PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter) to ensure proper version control, model consistency, and simulation data governance.
- Analyze simulation job performance, queue usage, and resource bottlenecks; recommend scaling, optimization, and automation improvements for compute resources.
- Coordinate with IT Infrastructure, Cloud, Network, Storage, and vendor teams to resolve issues, plan capacity, and evaluate opportunities for hybrid/cloud HPC adoption (Azure/AWS HPC).
- Maintain comprehensive documentation such as installation guides, system runbooks, architecture diagrams, workflows, and user best‑practice guidelines.
- Ensure CAE and simulation systems comply with PHINIA's IT security, identity, compliance, and software licensing requirements.
- Support engineering teams in rolling out new simulation tools, capabilities, configuration updates, and digital engineering initiatives (e.g., digital twins, model-based engineering, simulation automation).
- Assist with automation of simulation workflows using scripting (Python/Shell), job orchestration improvements, template standardization, and repeatable pipelines.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to modernize simulation environments, including HPC enhancements, cloud readiness, user experience improvements, and performance monitoring.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Computer Science, IT, or a related field
- 3-6 years of experience supporting engineering simulation/CAE environments or engineering IT systems.
- Hands-on experience with one or more CAE tools (ANSYS, Altair HyperWorks, MATLAB/Simulink, GT‑Suite, etc.).
- Familiarity with HPC environments, job schedulers (PBS, SLURM), and compute/storage performance optimization.
- Understanding of CAD/PLM data flows, engineering BOM structures, and simulation data management.
- Solid technical skills in Windows/Linux environments, scripting (Python, Shell), and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of simulation licensing models (FlexLM, RLM, etc.).
- Experience working with ITIL processes fo
