As part of a leading regional academic medical center, the team works collaboratively with cardiac and vascular surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and multidisciplinary professionals to deliver complex, life-saving care. The department is committed to surgical excellence, innovation, teamwork, and outstanding patient outcomes. Position Summary Under the direction of the Unit Manager, RN Clinical Operations Coordinator, and/or RN Service Leads, the Surgical Technologist works directly under surgeon/physician guidance to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures. The Surgical Technologist must possess expertise in the theory and application of aseptic technique and demonstrate the ability to combine knowledge of human anatomy, surgical processes, instrumentation, and advancing technologies. The Surgical Technologist anticipates the needs of surgeons and/or physicians through constant attention to and assessment of the surgical process and patient condition to promote a safe, efficient, high-quality surgical outcome. These skills support the performance of minimally invasive, invasive surgical procedures, and invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. The Surgical Technologist must be able to function proficiently across a variety of surgical specialty services within the Heart & Vascular environment. The Surgical Technologist provides patient care primarily through service to the physician/surgeon. The incumbent must understand the procedure being performed, anticipate the needs of the surgical team, and ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure while maintaining the sterile field. The Surgical Technologist is accountable for maintaining skills and knowledge commensurate with assignments and in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
