About the role
Job Summary: The mission of the We Care Program is to support Northeastern University students who experience difficulty maintaining academic progress due to personal challenges or external obstacles. By responding to student requests for assistance and proactively reaching out to students of concern, We Care is a resource for students, their families, and Northeastern University faculty and staff. We Care provides policy information; customized referrals and guidance that helps students navigate and overcome difficult circumstances. Reporting to the Associate Director for Student Success, the Program Coordinator, Student Support & Operations assists with the efficient and effective operation of the We Care Program. This role will support students to make independent decisions related to their needs while following university policies and procedures. This role must enjoy working with students and helping guide them through their challenges. The position requires organization, creativity, initiative, innovation, and problem-solving skills. A demonstrated ability to handle multiple responsibilities concurrently, work both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment, and previous experience working with college-level students is required. Candidate will be required to work some evening, weekend and holiday hours as needed. This is a full-time, in-person position on the Boston campus. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; 2-4 years of higher education experience strongly preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- Experience creating, managing, and maintaining web-based programs and platforms required.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with diplomacy and exercise independent judgment in complex or ambiguous situations.
- Crisis intervention skills, creative problem solving, and situational adaptability required.
- Ability to identify patterns in student concerns and proactively recommend improvements and creative solutions.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate with confidence across all levels of the organization.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Familiarity with Canva and AI tools preferred.
- Must be able to empathize with individuals from diverse backgrounds and work collaboratively with students, faculty, parents, and university-wide administrators.
- Familiarity with a university's role in an urban setting and an understanding of shared community responsibilities.
- Must be able to balance conflicting priorities and remain calm under pressure.
