Backend Engineer III, Box Apps

Responsibilities

• Develop new backend features focused on high scale and performance.
• Collaborate with frontend-focused team on planning, requirements and API contracts.
• Solve challenges related to distributed systems at scale.
• Measure system performance; identify bottlenecks; optimize accordingly.
• Build internal tools supporting testing automation, deployment pipelines & product support.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across geographies.
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups and sprint planning.
• Contribute code reviews ensuring quality standards are met consistently.
• Participate in our on-call rotation, available at all times while on-call to help respond to and triage any issues that arise.

Requirements

• You have 4+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proficient in Java ; familiarity with other scripting languages like Python or Scala is a plus .
• Experienced working within Linux environments.
• Comfortable working with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Knowledgeable about container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes .
• Strong communicator who meets deadlines reliably while collaborating effectively within teams.
• Passionate about learning new technologies & applying them pragmatically in production environments.
• Fluent English speaker capable of working seamlessly across international teams.
• Familiarity with GraphQL , FrontEnd development and NoSQL databases is a bonus .
