As a Product Design Engineer II within our New Product Development team, you'll play a key role in bringing innovative consumer products from concept through to production. Working as part of a cross-functional global team, you'll help develop products that deliver exceptional consumer experiences while balancing performance, quality, cost, and manufacturability. Based in our London Design Office, you'll collaborate closely with Design, Product Development, Electrical Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams across the UK, US, and China to create and launch industry-leading consumer products. Responsibilities
- This role is focused on developing and delivering world-class consumer products from concept selection through to production launch.
- Here's what you'll be getting involved in:
- Designing and developing mechanical systems, components, and assemblies throughout the product development lifecycle
- Taking ownership of engineering deliverables from concept refinement through detailed design, validation, and production release
- Creating robust and manufacturable designs using strong engineering principles and Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) methodologies
- Developing and maintaining 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, specifications, and product documentation
- Conducting engineering analysis, tolerance assessments, risk evaluations, and trade-off studies to support design decisions
- Planning, building, and testing prototypes to validate product performance, reliability, and user experience
- Collaborating closely with Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, Software, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to deliver integrated product solutions
- Supporting supplier engagement and manufacturing development activities to ensure successful product industrialisation
- Driving root cause investigations and implementing effective solutions to technical challenges throughout development and testing phases
- Supporting product verification, validation, and regulatory compliance activities
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and sharing engineering best practices across development teams
Requirements
- You're a proactive engineer who enjoys turning concepts into commercially successful products. You thrive in collaborative environments, take ownership of technical challenges, and have a passion for developing innovative consumer products.
- We'd love to see:
- A degree in Product Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Design Engineering
- Experience in mechanical or product design within a New Product Development environment
- Experience developing consumer products or household appliances is highly desirable
- A strong understanding of plastics, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacture principles
- Experience taking products through multiple stages of the development lifecycle, from concept through production
- High proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or Creo
- Experience planning and executing product validation and verification activities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured engineering approach
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and global teams
