Employment Status: Full time Shift: Evening/Night (United States of America) Facility: 1906 Belleview Ave SE - Roanoke Requisition Number: R157251 RN Team Lead - Pulmonary Progressive Care Unit (Open) How You'll Help Transform Healthcare: Sign on Bonus (must meet criteria) 20-bed progressive care unit caring primarily for medical patients, with a frequent-but not exclusive-focus on pulmonary and respiratory conditions. Nurses provide high-acuity care through advanced monitoring, sound clinical judgment, and close collaboration with the care team. Within a Magnet-designated environment, 8 Mountain PCU emphasizes quality-driven practice, staff development, and patient-centered care. The RN Team Lead serves as a team leader, clinical resource, role model, coach, and facilitator for staff and department operations. Has the responsibility and authority to lead the work group, resolve routine issues, foster a positive and productive work environment, and support fiscally responsible operations. Maintains awareness of organizational initiatives and incorporates applicable practices into the work unit. Refers complex or sensitive issues-such as compensation, staffing, working conditions, hiring, or formal corrective action-to the manager/director. In addition to leadership duties, provides professional nursing care to patients of all ages within the assigned area. The RN Team Lead Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to achieve optimal outcomes as appropriate to the service area. Utilizes leadership principles to mobilize the patient care team toward positive outcomes; follows up on issues to ensure successful resolution. Assists manager/director in ensuring staff competence and supporting staff performance development. Identifies areas for improvement and contributes to developmental plans for team members. Provides regular coaching and feedback, maintains performance-related documentation, prepares performance assessments, and communicates team member performance to leadership. Assists with or prepares work schedules, ensuring adequate coverage, equitable staffing, and control of work hours. Manages routine clinical or operational issues and notifies leadership as appropriate. Collaborates with management on fiscal stewardship, including resource allocation, staffing decisions, budget input, and expense control. Supports departmental initiatives such as patient satisfaction improvement, performance improvement activities, and other quality initiatives. Conducts individual and team meetings, ensuring effective two-way communication. Keeps staff informed, listens to concerns, resolves issues, follows up, and promotes a positive work environment. Encourages accountability, professionalism, and development of interpersonal and communication skills among staff. Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory, licensure, and accreditation standards (e.g., The Joint Commission, CLIA, COLA, OSHA, AAAHC, as applicable). What We Require: Education: Associate degree or diploma in nursing from a State Board of Nursing-approved program. Experience: Minimum of one year in the clinical discipline with demonstrated clinical and leadership expertise. Licensure/Certification: Registered Nurse licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification (C-EFM) may be required as determined by the department. Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required. ACLS, PALS, and/or NRP may be required based on specific work unit. Other Minimum Qualifications: Must demonstrate effective leadership, communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. Must be able to prioritize, delegate, and coordinate care and operational workflows. Requires the ability to coach staff, participate in performance evaluations, and support operational and quality initiatives. Must demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Compensation Range: $39.00 - $62.40 Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience.
