About This Position Job Description: Purpose: Under minimal supervision and with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment, provide oversight and reporting and make improvement recommendations for the City's Capital Improvements Program (CIP) within the Capital Planning Office. Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned. Maintains knowledge of the City's Capital Improvements Program and how the CIP is utilized to carry out the strategic objectives of the City of Austin. Maintains knowledge of key capital program issues facing the City of Austin. Oversees and monitors progress of City's portfolio of bond projects and conducts portfolio management activities. Participates in the City's CIP planning and review processes. Produces reports from CIP Program data and provides analysis of the information for use in decision making. Monitors CIP project and program issues from an organizational perspective and when required, assist in resolution. Monitors CIP operating procedures, policies, and ordinances to ensure CIP compliance8. Monitors the City's CIP project portfolio for legal, regulatory and initiative compliance. Develops and conducts training for City personnel involved in the CIP Program. Provides technical advice and assistance to city management as necessary. Meets with city management and staff as required to resolve CIP project issues, using subject matter judgment and expertise. Coordinates and collaborates with other agencies, departments, divisions involved in or affected by the City's CIP portfolio. Attends City Council, board meetings, etc. as City staff representative.
