The Medical Affairs Manager is the regional medical lead and a core member working toward establishing the footprint for Sirtex among members of the medical community in Japan. The Manager will establish and support a critical network of key opinion leaders (KOLs) and healthcare providers (HCPs) throughout Japan on behalf of Sirtex, by maintaining a high level of knowledge to ensure credible dissemination of scientific information and dialogue with thought leaders, healthcare providers, and healthcare organizations supporting and partnering with key physicians on scientific discussion, exchange, and collaboration in areas of patient management, research, scientific publications, and medical & scientific exchange, including unsolicited requests for medical information. The Manager also interfaces regularly with appropriate global and regional cross-functional team members. Guided by a top-level vision to improve patient outcomes through strategic value-based partnerships, we are looking for candidates with the resilience to confront challenges while working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. The position reports to the Vice President, Medical Affairs for Sirtex and interacts closely with global, regional, and local staff. NOTE: This is a contract position. Candidates must live in Japan to be considered for this position. Establish foundation for introduction of transarterial radioembolization in Japanese market Facilitate the process to prepare Appropriate Usage Criteria in Japan through collaboration with key experts and respective related societies. Drive execution of TEC and proctor programs through collaboration with experts in and outside of Japan, and cross-functionally within Sirtex. Establish new and cultivate existing HCP relationships and deliver high-quality medical education and support to HCPs: Develop KOL engagement plan and support relationship management by liaising with MSLs and other cross-functional partners to understand strategic opportunities for KOL/HCP education and engagement and to deliver effective and timely HCP education and medical information. Liaise regularly with internal commercial leaders to share feedback and issues from external experts. Represent Sirtex at medical meetings, conferences, advisory board, outreach meetings at key institutions, and in interactions with thought leaders and strategic corporate partners. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop summaries of key data and other scientifically relevant information to inform strategic priorities and initiatives. Deliver high-caliber medical education presentations in a variety of settings and to obtain valuable feedback that can disseminated throughout the organization. Work with Medical Information to ensure that HCP inquiries are addressed in a timely fashion and follow up with HCP as necessary. Embody and deliver scientific leadership for Sirtex: Deliver credible presentations on scientific matters to health care providers, individually or in groups (meetings, clinical sessions, etc.), where requested. Ensure a strong medical and scientific presence by supporting requests for medical and scientific information on products or areas of therapeutic interest. Act as a point of contact within the medical affairs team for thought leaders and external experts within an assigned geographic area to satisfy their needs for scientific knowledge in a therapeutic area. Drive development of field insights: Work closely with MSLs to generate key insight questions, identify broader inferences and implications for the company, and collate information for presentation to Medical team and Leadership to better understand HCP insights and corresponding actions. Translate insights from HCPs into Scientific Communications and Publications deliverables as appropriate. Doctoral degree (e.g., PharmD, PhD, MD). >5 years prior Medical Affairs or MSL Experience. Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities, previously conducted in Japan. Advanced understanding of reginal regulations, rules and guidelines related to pharma business activities in Japan, including knowledge of guidelines and trends overseen by JPMA (Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association). Analytical and logical thinking skills. Problem solving and management skills. Business level English skills and competencies and fluent/native written, read, and spoken Japanese. Proactive and assertive attitude to establish networking. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Able to work and align with multiple Sirtex internal and external stakeholders and work cross-functional in a matrix structure. Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced team environment. Strong attention to detail, well-organized, operationally effective, and able to do both develop project strategies and ensure reliable implementation of projects with a flexible and solution-driven attitude.
