You will work closely with health colleagues to model future scenarios, mentor others and lead creation of evidence-based insights. Lead impactful analysis: Apply statistic and economic modelling and analysis techniques to policy scenarios using large, complex health datasets, turning data into actionable insights that influence real-world outcomes. Shape smarter decisions: Synthesise information from diverse sources (including IDI and administrative datasets) and communicate compelling, evidence-based advice to decision-makers. Contribute to analytical expertise: Lead projects, share and develop your expertise and mentor team members. Innovate for impact: keep up to date with health research and develop innovative analytical projects and products that support policy development and strategic planning Collaborate for system impact: Build strong relationships across the Ministry and wider health sector and ensure work helps to achieve to achieve pae ora - healthy futures for all New Zealanders. Ko ngā pūkenga ōu - What you'll bring Extensive experience delivering quantitative analysis and policy modelling using administrative data Advanced proficiency in tools such as R, Python, and SQL to extract, analyse, and interpret large datasets Well developed problem solving and critical thinking skills and the ability to grasp new concepts quickly Excellent communication and relationship management skills, including the ability to communicate complex insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences Highly collaborative, curious, and adaptable, with a commitment to quality outcomes and continuous improvement A background in a quantitative discipline, such as statistics, economics or epidemiology A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and an understanding of our responsibilities under Te Tiriti for data governance, analysis and reporting An understanding of national health data is an advantage.
