Responsibilities
- Provides technical guidance to others on the team based upon technical expertise and recommends opportunities for improvement via lessons learned, technical standard change requests, engineering management plans, contractor evaluations, etc.
- Manages, reviews and approves the execution of the design deliverables by a third-party engineering firm against the project budget and schedule.
- Owns and leads all aspects of the engineering project scope, schedule, capital cost estimate, execution planning, risks and supporting information related to assigned projects from project development through closeout.
- Ensures that all assigned projects are developed as fit for purpose and in accordance with all regulations, environmental, health and safety, applicable industry codes and corporate standards.
- Reviews vendor materials quotations, evaluates technical bids and recommends selections based on technical merit along with price and delivery. Collaborates with Supply Chain to procure material via internal tools.
- Leads and/or supports business initiatives e.g. cost saving opportunities in line with business justification for projects.
Requirements
- Currently registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA.
- 6+ years of progressively responsible experience in engineering and project management.
- Demonstrated ability to be innovative, initiate and manage change.
- Able to work independently while managing multiple priorities and resolving complex issues using strong technical and business judgment.
- Strong stakeholder awareness and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate technical issues and impacts across internal and external, technical and non-technical teams.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset.
- Working Conditions:
- Office - Hybrid environment.
- Overnight business trips to the field and other locations may be required up to 10% of the time, requiring Personal Protective. Equipment (PPE). Ability to travel and work on projects throughout Canada and United States. Valid passport is required.
- A valid driver's license and maintenance of a responsible driving record is required before hire.
