About the role

This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Legislative Affairs (OLA), in Washington, D.C. OLA is responsible for the presentation of the DOJ's views on legislation and legislative proposals to Congress, including congressional committees and individual Members, and explaining the Department's position on various legislative proposals and oversight matters to Congress. To qualify for the position of Administrative Program Specialist, at GS-0301-9/11, you must meet the qualification requirements listed below. For the GS-09 Specialized Experience: For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Conducting on-boarding and/or off-boarding of new or transferring employees; and 2) Compiling documentation to initiate personnel actions and/or pre-employment security initiation process. OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. (NOTE: You must provide a copy of your transcripts) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (NOTE: You must provide a copy of your transcripts). For the GS-11 Specialized Experience: For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-09 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Providing guidance to management on administrative programs and/or procedures; 2) Conducting on-boarding and/or off-boarding of new or transferring employees; and 3) Compiling documentation to initiate personnel actions and/or pre-employment security initiation process. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. (NOTE: You must provide a copy of your transcripts) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
