About the role
We are seeking a Radiation Control Technician to join our team supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory ! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates complete understanding and broad application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field.
- Maintains general knowledge of related disciplines.
- Works within established priorities, procedures, processes, requirements, and specifications.
- Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.

- Provides radiological support at assigned Laboratory sites.
- Conducts workplace surveillance and analyzes/interprets radiological data.
- Provides operational health physics support in assigned facility, function, or area.
- Reviews radiological work for proper controls and posting compliance with Laboratory requirements.
- Assists and mentors employees in on-the-job training related to:
- Radiation monitoring procedures
- Contamination control
- External exposure control
- Emergency response
- Radiation work permits
- Facility design
- Interfaces with emergency personnel or responds directly to radiation-related emergencies.
- Works with health physicists to determine re-entry requirements.
- Directs other RCTs in monitoring and handling contaminated personnel.
Requirements
- Education & Years of Experience - High School Diploma and 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Citizenship - To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
- Clearance - To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
- Experience working in high-hazard radiological environments.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of radiation protection regulations, including 10CFR835.
