About the role

We're looking for a Data Analyst to join our Commercial Analytics team within Finance and help shape how SumUp measures commercial performance across the customer lifecycle. In this role, you'll work closely with our Global and European FP&A teams, partnering on some of SumUp's most important strategic questions. Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain scalable data models that track financial and commercial performance across the customer lifecycle, including metrics such as recurring revenue, payback, lifetime value, customer acquisition cost, and churn
  • Develop clear, reliable dashboards and reporting layers that enable self-serve analytics for Finance stakeholders and leadership
  • Partner closely with FP&A and cross-functional business stakeholders to translate finance and commercial questions into KPIs, analyses, and actionable recommendations
  • Deliver advanced analyses that combine strong quantitative thinking with business context to support planning, performance tracking, and strategic decision-making
  • Help define and improve the core metrics, data definitions, and reporting standards used to measure business performance across markets and segments
  • Work with analytics engineering and cross-functional teams to ensure data is well-structured, trusted, and accessible for high-quality financial analysis
  • Contribute to data-informed planning and OKRs, including areas such as merchant segmentation, growth performance, and unit economics
  • Act as a thought partner to stakeholders by challenging assumptions, identifying risks or opportunities, and helping teams move from data to decision
  • You'll be a great fit for this role if you have:
  • 4+ years of experience in data analytics, business analytics, or commercial/finance analytics, ideally in a fast-paced, data-rich environment
  • Strong experience working with SQL to explore data, define KPIs, and build robust analytical datasets
  • Strong experience supporting Finance, FP&A, or commercial stakeholders, with a good understanding of financial and business performance concepts
  • Experience building dashboards and reports that are not only accurate, but also intuitive and useful for decision-making, ideally in Tableau or a similar BI tool
  • The ability to translate ambiguous business questions into structured analysis, clear metrics, and practical recommendations
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to work closely with senior business partners and explain insights clearly
  • A combination of technical depth and business acumen, with a genuine interest in using data to improve commercial and financial decision-making
