We are looking for: Senior Research Associate Full-time permanent opportunity (35h/wk) starting August 2026. Hybrid position. As a member of VHA's multidisciplinary research team, the Senior Research Associate will further VHA's vision to lead with science in the homecare sector. Working within an embedded research environment, the Senior Research Associate will have the opportunity to unlock clinical and operational data to answer real-world research questions relevant to homecare services. The individual will be responsible for handling and maintaining large, longitudinal, administrative datasets which are used for decision-making and academic publications. Specifically, the individual will lead research projects interpreting and applying regression analysis and similar techniques with quantitative data to inform contemporary and practical questions around homecare health services research and policy. The Senior Research Associate will have the opportunity to work alongside experts in the field to contribute to real change and evidence-informed decision-making in the growing homecare sector. #LI-CF1 Key Areas of Accountability: The Senior Research Associate will be required to do the following tasks, but not limited to: Utilize large clinical and administrative data sources (pulling from operations, finance, human resources, and other sources) to lead projects which answer research and operational questions relevant to homecare service delivery and policy by applying statistical analyses - including the opportunity to incorporate emerging AI techniques. Lead manuscript preparation to report research findings to the broader community Lead and contribute to the cleaning, preparation, and organization of large administrative datasets Supervise research assistants/associates and students Identify and act upon additional opportunities for knowledge translation Contribute to the identification and design of further related research Required Qualifications: Obtained a PhD in a relevant field with strong statistical skills and foundational skills for applying artificial intelligence (e.g., biostatistics/epidemiology, engineering, computer science, health informatics, health economics) At least 6 years of research experience, inclusive of graduate education Demonstrated methodological and analytical expertise in their area of specialty, with the ability to interpret research findings and demonstrate sound judgment with respect to scientific appropriateness and rigour. For this role, this includes: Demonstrated expertise in conducting statistical quantitative analyses in R/RStudio Interest and knowledge of applying established and emerging quantitative methodologies (e.g., regression, other machine learning analyses, natural language processing) in healthcare research to answer practical questions to help inform policy-making Preference towards experience working with large longitudinal administrative datasets in healthcare research settings Strong record of academic productivity Ability to integrate and understand both qualitative and quantitative approaches The ability to clearly communicate research findings, including through the generation of compelling visualizations, clear presentations for colleagues and academic audiences, reports, and publications. Ability to identify, apply and share effective practices in knowledge mobilization such as publications, presentations, discussion forums through diverse channels and evaluating the uptake, use and impact of this knowledge Ability to communicate effectively and to interact with diplomacy and tact with colleagues, the leadership team, and external partners.
