Additional Information
You will be part of the research team under the Heart Protection theme at the National Heart Research Institute of Singapore (NHRIS), National Heart Centre of Singapore (NHCS). The team aims to discover new treatments to protect the heart from acuteischaemia/reperfusion injury and prevent heart failure. Our translational research encompasses cell and rodent models of atherosclerosis, acutemyocardial infarction, genetic cardiomyopathy, and heart failure; nanoparticles for therapeutic delivery to the ischaemic heart; clinical studies; and the use of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cardiomyocytes to model cardiac diseases and identify novel therapeutic targets - all with the goal of accelerating the translation of scientific discoveries into effective treatments for patients. Your key responsibilities include reprogramming somatic cells into iPSCs and differentiating them into cardiac and non-cardiac lineages, performing molecular biology and imaging-based assays (including qPCR, Western blot, ELISA, and fluorescence and confocalmicroscopy), and contributing to the preparation of presentations, grant applications, reports, and manuscripts for publication. You will also help maintain laboratory efficiency and safety protocols, and assist with procurement, while working within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team that collaborates with clinicians and scientists locally and internationally. This role offers opportunities for professional growth, scientific authorship, and meaningful contribution to translational cardiovascular research.
