Medical Director Responsibilities Responsible for the clinical oversight of Bone Marrow Transplant Develop and execute strategies to standardize the delivery of clinical care and improve the health of our patients in a manner consistent with ChristianaCare's Medical Group priorities and initiatives. Responsible for developing and attaining established performance and outcome goals in collaboration with Operational and Service Line leadership. Manage the overall health of Bone Marrow Transplant in collaboration with Clinical and Administrative Leadership Manage all providers within Bone Marrow Transplant, both physicians and APCs, with clinical oversight of care provided by Bone Marrow Transplant in all settings. Principal Duties & Responsibilities Provide leadership to physicians and clinical staff for the treatment of Bone Marrow Transplant patients. Oversee Bone Marrow Transplant clinical services, discusses and resolves administrative problems that arise and directs the planning and improvement of the clinical services. Oversee all staff in Bone Marrow Transplant. Act as a primary resource to Bone Marrow Transplant clinical team to troubleshoot issues and provide guidance and intervention related to operational challenges. Ensure the clinical program provides comprehensive clinical care through the multidisciplinary clinics and identifies, support and implements quality improvement initiatives for the program. Facilitate annual review of policies and procedures to ensure the program is in compliance with Hematology/Oncology standards. Meets regularly with section staff to review section functions and policies and procedures. Ensure that all patients served on the Bone Marrow Transplant program are eligible to receive services. Participate in recruiting staff to develop the clinical program and engage in staff retention and development opportunities. Work with various center administrative offices such as finance, pharmacy, and program leadership to support planning, site visits, collaborators, and auditors. Perform other related duties as required. Promotes ideas to increase patient accrual for treatment, cancer control and prevention clinical trials working with the Cancer Research Department at the Helen F Graham Cancer Center and Research Institute Work with philanthropy for needed resources Establish a plan to upgrade the BMT unit with a separate leukemic unit. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute Multidisciplinary Disease Site Centers that include a team of specialists whom a patient can see all in one visit, including a surgeon, a medical oncologist or hematologist and a radiation oncologist along with subspecialists who will work together to provide their patients with the optimal treatment plan targeted to their specific disease. Our cancer clinical trials program is one of a select group of research centers in the country that participate in the National Cancer Institute's Community Oncology Research Program. Our Breast Center features Delaware's only dedicated breast MRI scanner, and the Center for Breast Reconstruction is the first in Delaware to offer the full breadth of breast reconstruction options, including state-of-the-art microsurgical techniques. Our advanced Genetic Counseling & Gene Testing programs support personal cancer risk assessment and treatment options as well as familial risk assessment to help support diagnostic screening and referrals based on your personal and family medical history. We are the only institution in the state the provides Gynecologic Oncology services to woman in the state who are diagnosed with gynecologic cancers. HFGCCRI offers the only Bone Marrow Transplant and CAR T Cell service in Delaware, so patients do not need to leave the state for care.
