Disability and Social Sector Policy in the Ministry's Sector Policy Group Permanent, Wellington based role Deliver trusted, high-quality advice to Ministers Salary midpoint of $153,748, actual salary dependent on your experience Ko tōu ake mahi - What you'll do This position as a Principal Policy Analyst allows you to provide strategic thought leadership and guidance, producing high-quality advice on disability, health and sector wide issues. You will lead on key pieces of work programmes/projects that deliver quality policy advice to improve health outcomes for New Zealanders and support policy capability in a team working across a wide range of issues that includes disability policy and the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care. The role includes: Leading strategic disability policy aligned across health, social and system priorities Delivering trusted, high-quality advice to Ministers, including on trade-offs and funding impacts Shaping and driving sector-wide policy, monitoring and analysis with strong thought leadership Identifying risks and emerging issues early, leading proactive, future-focused policy responses Coaching and uplift team policy capability while ensuring consistently high-quality, evidence-based advice Ko ngā pūkenga ōu - What you'll bring Demonstrated experience shaping complex policy and system settings and facilitating diverse community and stakeholder engagement and input Proven experience in designing, developing, and implementing analytical approaches to policy. Extensive experience in policy development, including influencing and leading a wide range of stakeholders and providing high-quality advice to Ministers. Strong capability in designing work programmes and project planning to ensure timely delivery within budget. Political awareness and sound judgement, with an understanding of how issues evolve and what matters to key stakeholders and the Government of the day.
