Mechanical Engineer (Commercial) - District Cooling / Chiller

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support the delivery of district cooling projects, including A&A works involving chiller systems. The role focuses on site coordination, project execution and quality control, ensuring mechanical works are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate site activities and provide practical engineering solutions to resolve technical and construction-related issues.
• Apply mechanical engineering knowledge and relevant building services codes to support project delivery and compliance.
• Monitor the quality of materials, equipment and installation works carried out by suppliers and subcontractors.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers and the main contractor to ensure installation quality, project progress and timely completion.
• Prepare, review and update shop drawings, coordination drawings and other project documentation.
• Develop work schedules and participate in client, consultant and internal project meetings.
• Support the Project Manager with daily project execution, including progress monitoring, quality assurance and safety compliance.
• Monitor site materials and equipment to minimize wastage and improve operational efficiency.
• Liaise closely with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely material delivery and smooth project execution.
• Inspect completed works, identify non-conformances and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Monitor site progress and maintain effective communication with all project stakeholders.
• Recommend improved installation methods and innovative engineering solutions to enhance productivity.
• Perform other engineering and project-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in a mechanical or M&E contractor environment.
• Hands-on experience with district cooling systems, chiller plants or central cooling systems is required.
• Good understanding of mechanical building services, HVAC systems and construction practices.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
• ISO Internal Quality Auditor certification is an advantage.
• Building Construction Safety Supervisor (BCSS) certification is preferred.
• Strong communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
