About the role

This position is located with the Fort Thompson Health Center in Fort Thompson, SD. The purpose of the position is to improve the health status of the community by promoting disease prevention, health awareness, and healthy lifestyle behaviors through culturally appropriate education strategies, community outreach activities, and interdisciplinary collaboration. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021). To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Individual Occupational Requirements Undergraduate and Graduate Education For GS-9/11: Major study -- public health or other field of study with course work directly related to the work of the position to be filled. -OR- Specialized Experience: Public Health Advisor positions -- providing advice and assistance to State and local governments, and to various public, nonprofit, and private agencies and organizations on matters relating to the improvement of their public health activities. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-09: Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree -or- 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree -or-LL.B. or J.D., if related -OR- Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Assist in conducting studies and performing analytical work related to the planning, administration, managing, and delivery of public health programs; administer processes and techniques to develop and deliver health related programs in state or local settings; gather and convey information, prepare reports and make oral presentations. GS-11: Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree -or- 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree -or- LL.M., if related -OR- Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Provide technical advice and assistance with responsibility to carry out program activities; conduct studies and perform other analytical work related to the planning, development, organization, administration, evaluation in delivery of public health programs; perform data analytic process based on collected data, databases and systems to forecast and track prospective business and marketing opportunity initiatives; apply concepts and practices that apply to public or private agencies or organizations in public health or other health related activities. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
