Collect fees as required by law and in accordance to statutory guidelines. Issue permits, titles, registrations, handicap placards, and license plates as appropriate across many unique transactions involving complex requirements. Ensure accuracy and enforce compliance with appropriate statutory regulations including but not limited to emissions standards, insurance requirements and secure and verifiable identification. Research information on Motor Vehicle issues using various resources. Perform VIN inspections. Contact financial institutions or dealerships regarding customer paperwork; figure all sales tax due. This position acts as an agent for the State of Colorado. Customer Service - 25% Work involves heavy public contact; assisting the public with general inquires, assisting in researching and resolving complex tax, title, registration related problems and processing required paperwork. Assist the public by phone, through electronic media, and in writing regarding complex tax, title, registration related problems and processing required paperwork. Works to resolve complex transactions, utilizing negotiation and problem resolution skills with sensitivity to the voters' needs and expectations. Serve as a liaison between Clerk & Recorder's Office; representatives of business and industry, trade and professional associations, and clients. Administrative Support - 15% Process all incoming mail; review documents received for completeness and accuracy; prepare for data entry; process mortgage mail, renewals, and drop-off work received. Perform routine clerical tasks as requested. Operate a variety of office equipment, communicate current and anticipated problems to superior. Maintain assigned state inventory, files, and records required by the Colorado Department of Motor Vehicle. Participate in opening and/or closing functions as directed; verify cash receipts, reconciling check, payport, and cash reports and running required accounting tapes. Resolve minor discrepancies when necessary, working to ensure that all monies collected are in balance. Provide input regarding new projects, equipment evaluation, production and quality standards. Election Support - 10% Perform voter registration and marriage licenses and perform oath of honesty as needed. Serve as a representative of the designated election official when required, fulfilling all roles and/or tasks as assigned. As directed, assist in other departments and/or with County-wide events. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. -- Required Qualifications Required Education High School Diploma/GED Experience Qualifications 3 years experience in an increasingly responsible position in an office setting. Skills and Abilities Considerable knowledge of office practices and procedures; working knowledge of title work and registration practices as required by the position; skill in operation of office equipment, including personal computer, state system, calculator, etc. Ability to learn technical terminology; learn legal terminology as required by the position; to compose letters and materials using some exercise of independent judgment; to follow verbal and written instructions; to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, agencies and the public.
