Job Title: Locum Haematology/Blood Transfusion Biomedical Scientist Location: Redhill, Surrey Banding: Band 6 Start Date: 19 May 2025 Duration: 4 months Rate: £26 - £28 per hour Working Hours: Monday to Friday - 24/7 shift (flexible) An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced Band 6 Locum Biomedical Scientist to join our client's Haematology and Blood Transfusion team at a reputable NHS Trust in Redhill. This role is ideal for a motivated professional who is confident working in a fast-paced laboratory environment, delivering high-quality diagnostic services that directly impact patient care. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the smooth running of the department, ensuring compliance with UKAS standards and Trust protocols. What will your responsibilities be: The role involves performing a wide range of diagnostic tests within Haematology and Blood Transfusion, including cross-matching and serology. The Biomedical Scientist will be responsible for operating and maintaining key laboratory equipment such as Alinity HQ, Alinity HS, ACL TOP 550, Neo Iris, and using the WinPath Laboratory Information Management System. Duties include analysing patient samples, validating results, participating in quality control procedures, and supporting junior staff. The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team is essential, as is the flexibility to work shifts if required. Qualifications and Experiences: HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist Minimum of 2 years' post-registration experience in Haematology and Blood Transfusion Proven competence in cross-matching and serological techniques Proficient in using Alinity HQ, Alinity HS, ACL TOP 550, Neo Iris, and WinPath Experience working in a UKAS-accredited laboratory Strong understanding of quality assurance and laboratory safety procedures Excellent communication and organisational skills Ability to work shifts if required How to apply?
