Position purpose : Working in a holistic environment in developing student-athletes, the Assistant Coach will support the Head Coach to allow the program to meet its objectives. The Assistant Coach will assume the roles and duties as assigned by and under the supervision of the Head Coach to include duties relating to technical coaching support, recruiting, general administration and team management support. The incumbent will also be required to assist with alumni, community events/activities, and other fundraising initiatives. The Assistant Coach may also be responsible for the coordination and implementation of technical schemes and game strategies for assigned sub-units within the team. In this role, your responsibilities will include: Coaching - (60%). Under the direction of the Head Coach and applicable to the specific sub unit responsibilities assigned to the assistant coach, the incumbent will be required to ensure an environment which is consistent with the values of the University of Ottawa and will foster the development of the student-athletes in the program toward conference and U SPORTS success and recognition. Primarily these duties are: According to the plan developed by the Head Coach, ensure the implementation, preparation and evaluation of the annual competitive objectives, practice sessions and competitions events for any assigned sub-unit within the team. Assist in the delivery of team meetings, video analysis, performance analysis, sport psychology support, team building processes, academic monitoring and player evaluations. Assist the Head Coach (or Defensive Coordinator Football) to develop game strategies in preparation for each competition. Assist the Head Coach in developing, organizing and monitoring the off-season training and practices as well as all training camps. Recruiting - (30%). In keeping with the philosophy and objectives of The University of Ottawa and within U SPORTS, OUA or RSEQ principles, guidelines and regulations, The Assistant Coach will assist with and at times oversee the coordination of assigned recruiting activities as follows: Identify recruits across Canada through an established network within the sport system and high school and college system. Develop a recruiting package and ensure on-going communication with the recruits and their families. Organize and conduct campus tours where appropriate. Liaison with Sports Services Admissions and Housing representative, The University of Ottawa Liaison Office representative and other university support as required. Assist in developing and implementing a multi-year recruiting plan by evaluating the current roster and assessing the upcoming needs. General administration, communications and community outreach - (10%). Assist in the promotion of the U SPORTS Program to both the internal and external communities. Coordinate assigned program-specific fundraising initiatives in accordance with guidelines set out by the Service's Marketing and Communications department. Work with the Manager of Camps and Intramural Programs to coordinate the implementation of the sport-specific summer Youth Camp program Assist the Head Coach in monitoring the academic progress of the student-athletes and coordinating the academic support requirements which includes liaison with the faculties and academic advisors where appropriate Coordinate the involvement of the U SPORT Program's student-athletes in community outreac
