Job Description This position is eligible for an annual bonus of up to $25,000!! Essential Functions (greater than or equal to 10% of time): Performs routine diagnostic procedures utilizing knowledge of radiation/imaging scientific principles, technical skills and well developed problem solving capabilities Receives and reviews requests for radiologic studies. Explains and prepares the patient for all radiographic procedures. Interviews patients and reviews available clinical data from charts to alert nurses and/or physicians to possible contradictions for procedure. Properly and safely positions the patient for maximum diagnostic yield Uses a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials. Operates highly complex radiographic equipment within the radiology department, selecting technical factors to ensure high-quality radiographs using the A.L.A.R.A. (As low as reasonable achievable) standards Maintains radiographic equipment and x-ray rooms in proper working condition. Reports malfunctions and necessary repairs to supervisor. Follows the clinic exposure control plans for bloodborne and airborne pathogens May be required by their manager/lead to perform other duties which may be necessary or desirable PACS Enters appropriate information into PACS to ensure proper insurance payments. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is frequently required to sit at a computer for long period of times. Must be able to distinguish colors Work Environment: Fast-paced environment especially in dealing with urgent care situations. Direct patient and client contact while delivering services and treatment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposure to blood or other human bodily fluids. Some weekend and evening hours may be required during peak times. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. Success Factors: Deliver quality healthcare through teamwork, dependability, innovation, integrity, and compassion. Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Education and/or Experience : Graduate of an approved radiological program. Minimum of 6 mos experience in radiology imaging modalities is preferred. Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent technical skills, pursues training and development opportunities. Knowledge of mathematical factors and equations used in imaging selection techniques. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Knowledge of radiologic equipment and testing. Knowledge of safety hazards related to radiology. Sill in patient assessment. Knowledge of aseptic techniques. Skill in properly positioning patients to provide quality imaging. Knowledge of IV and digestible contrast medias. Knowledge of common pharmaceuticals. Skill in troubleshooting equipment. Skill in training co-workers in equipment operations. Knowledge of Microsoft office programs. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists AART(R) and OBMI. Current state permit/license as general diagnostic radiographer and CPR Certification is required.
