Your New Role and Responsibilities As a Senior Geospatial Data Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and engineering accountability within a high-performing data and geospatial delivery environment responsible for the design, sustainment, and continuous improvement of enterprise geospatial dataflows and analytics pipelines supporting mission-critical outcomes. Operating within secure and complex environments, you will take accountability for the reliability, quality, and efficiency of geospatial data engineering services. You will apply advanced data engineering, geospatial data management, and automation expertise to ensure dataflows are scalable, repeatable, well-governed, and aligned with customer, contractual, and regulatory requirements. In this role, geospatial and spatiotemporal data will be the primary application domain. While strong transferable data engineering capability is essential, you will act as a senior technical authority in geospatial dataflow engineering, advising stakeholders, guiding less experienced engineers, and driving uplift in data engineering maturity. Key responsibilities include: Provide senior technical leadership and accountability for geospatial data engineering delivery, ensuring quality, compliance, and schedule outcomes Own end-to-end performance of geospatial dataflows, including ingestion, transformation, validation, and delivery to downstream systems Lead the design and implementation of enterprise geospatial dataflows using tools such as Apache NiFi and FME Develop and manage complex geospatial ETL workflows, data models, and embedded data quality controls Act as a technical escalation point, driving root cause analysis and resolution of complex data and pipeline issues Drive continuous improvement, governance alignment, documentation, and mentoring to uplift team capability and engineering practices What You'll Bring to Make An Impact Extensive experience in data engineering, delivering enterprise-scale dataflows and integration solutions Strong background in geospatial or spatiotemporal data within enterprise environments Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain scalable, automated data pipelines Expertise in data integration tools (e.g., Apache NiFi, FME), SQL, data modelling, and performance optimisation Proficiency in scripting/programming (e.g., Python, PowerShell) with accountability for data quality in regulated environments Strong stakeholder communication, professional judgement, and commitment to continuous improvement in secure or high-compliance settings Don't worry if you don't tick all the boxes - if you meet most of them, we encourage you to submit your application.
