Job Description AECOM EC is seeking a talented and experienced Principal - Security & ControlsTechnical Specialist to join our office in Bogotá, Colombia. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in Security Electronic and Automation & Control System sector, with a deep understanding of the demands of scale, speed, and consistency in critical technology infrastructure operations and large-scale construction projects such as Airports, Ports, Railways, and Corporate Buildings. These positions focus on the production of engineering designs. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to : Design Electronic Security, Control and Automation Systems for large-scale projects: Develop and implement Electronic Security and Automation Systems designs including Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV), Access Control System, Building Management System (BMS), Control System (SCADA), Perimeter Intrusion Systems, among others; Ensure designs prioritize reliability, scalability, and efficiency in mission-critical environments. Perform voltage drop calculations for low-voltage electronic security system wiring. Plan for future growth to ensure scalability of operations. Perform calculations/simulations required in each Security Electronic and Automation system. Electronic security and Automation System Selection: Identify and specify electronic security equipment such as cameras, controllers, peripherals devices, gateways, recorders power sources, servers, client stations, among others. Ensure equipment meets operational requirements and adheres to safety standards. Creation of architecture for each Security and Automation system (schematic), single-line diagrams, and detail plans. Energy efficiency and sustainability: incorporate energy efficiency strategies and LEED certifications associated with the BMS integration system to minimize consumption, carbon footprint and implement sustainable design principles. Coordination with other specialties: Collaboration with Architects, Electrical engineers, Mechanical engineers, Hydraulic engineers, RCI engineers, Fire Alarm and Detection engineers, among others, to evaluate spaces, infrastructure intersections, and define integration signals for the BMS system. Ensure Compliance with Industry Standards: Review of applicable national and international regulations and standards, ensuring all designs meet regulatory and operational guidelines. Prepare Design Documentation, Specifications and request for families required in the project: Create comprehensive technical drawings, modeling family items, specifications and documentation. Effectively communicate design plans with clients, architects, contractors, and project stakeholders. Testing and Commissioning: Supervise the testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of Security Electronic and Automation Systems during installation. Verify proper installation and ensure compliance with the design intent. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in electronic engineering or related discipline. 6+ years of professional experience in Electronic Security and Automation Systems engineering, with a strong focus on large-scale construction projects such as Airports, Ports, Railways, and Corporate Buildings. Competent in the design of electronic security and automation systems, including CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion detection systems, and BMS/SCADA, with knowledge of voltage drop calculations in low-voltage systems and specific system simulations. Extensive knowledge of standard design topology and other relevant industry standards. Demonstrated expertise in voltage drop calculations, equipment selection, and redundancy planning. Strong understanding of electrical and building codes, and local regulations. Hands-on experience with Electronic Security and Automation design and simulation tools, such as AutoCAD, Revit, AXIS plug in for Revit, or similar platforms. English Level: B2 Proven ability to review and respond to contractor submittals, including shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs. Knowledge of LEED strategies and integrations with BMS. Experience working closely with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic engineers to integrate systems into BMS/SCADA. Preferred Requirements Experience with Revit to create 3D BIM models of Security Electronic and Automation systems, adhering to all Levels of Development (LOD). Professional certifications including LEED, ANSI or similar accreditation are highly valued. Advanced coursework in Project Management, LEED knowledge, or Security Electronic and Building Automation design is strongly preferred. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
