Description of Work This position is a Health Care Technician II - Dining Coordinator role located in Newport Cottage, serving all units within the cottage. Responsibilities include monitoring individuals during snacks and mealtimes to ensure safety, support, and adherence to individual dietary needs, as well as observing staff to ensure proper procedures are followed and assistance is provided appropriately. The Dining Coordinator will be responsible for implementing daily food preparation and meal safety programming for the population served. The Dining Coordinator will participate in meetings related to individual care, including Person-Centered Plan meetings, interim meetings, admissions, and management meetings, and will serve as an active member of the treatment team. Additional duties include purchasing items for dietary, programming, activity needs, and special events; providing in-service training to staff on dining procedures; planning and assisting with special events; and ensuring that all dining programs remain person-centered. The role also involves goal implementation, monitoring individual progress, serving as the Adaptive Dining Equipment Representative for assigned areas, maintaining and updating the dining program notebook, writing monthly progress notes, and developing and updating programming schedules. Collaboration with the Food and Nutrition Department is required to ensure staff are trained in community-based food preparation skills. The Dining Coordinator will also assist with planning for the Farm Day and Arts Festival; assist with ICF/CQI and will provide unit coverage as needed ALL employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Recruitment Range: $39,312.00 - $43,302.00 This is anticipated vacancy *A Sign-on bonus of $2,500 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.* Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred: Experience working with Multi-handicapped individuals having knowledge of basic health care, hygiene and safety. Necessary Required Training or Certification - As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation. As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification. This position DOES NOT require NA I certification. Normal working hours are on 1st Shift 6:30a.m. - 3:00p.m ., including Holidays and every other weekend . Some flexibility required to meet center's needs. *Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus* To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate. An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if: The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date) The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
