Electrical and Controls Project Engineer

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Background in electrical controls/instrumentation engineering.
• Experience in manufacturing or process environments.
• Knowledge of PLC systems (e.g. Rockwell Logix 5000 & 500, RSView).
• Understanding of safety systems (e.g. SIL, Safety PLCs).
• Knowledge of industrial drives (e.g. Allen Bradley, ABB).
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills (e.g. 4-20mA loops, controllers).
• Familiarity with risk assessment methods (e.g. HAZOP, FMEA).
• Understanding of ATEX, commissioning, and machine safety standards.
• Competence in Microsoft Office and basic CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, EPlan).

Hexcel is currently seeking an Electrical and Controls Project Engineer for our Duxford, UK location. The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations: Support maintenance, project, and process activities to improve safety and production efficiency. Lead continuous improvement projects from concept through to implementation. Develop electrical and control system specifications for manufacturing equipment. Create and maintain electrical, instrumentation, and control documentation. Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. Support site breakdowns and restore production in a timely manner. Participate in technical support call-out rota to minimise downtime. Propose and implement control system improvements across the site. Plan and manage project timelines, ensuring minimal disruption to production. Communicate project progress effectively to stakeholders and management.
