Generation Technician Trainee, I or II (Mechanic or Certified Welder Mechanic Primary Skill) Depending upon the desired qualifications of the successful applicant, the hiring manager may elect to fill this position at a higher level within the job hierarchy. Job Summary: This position is responsible for the maintenance of plant equipment and systems at Power Generation facilities. Incumbents will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing predictive and preventive maintenance on plant equipment. Additional responsibilities include monitoring equipment performance through testing and analysis and for reporting variances. Supports the efficient operations of the station as needed. All work is done in compliance with the Company Environmental, Health and Safety guidelines, procedures, policies and expectations. Successful incumbents will have the ability to work independently and with minimum supervision. Depending upon the qualifications of the successful applicant(s), the hiring manager may elect to fill this position at a higher level within the job hierarchy. Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for performing the installation, repair and maintenance to facility equipment, systems and components in the journeyman discipline(s) held by incumbent. Must have a solid foundation of mechanical maintenance skills and knowledge to troubleshoot, maintain and operate plant equipment. Performs corrective and preventive tasks. Interprets design drawings and O&M manuals in locating and diagnosing trouble in plant equipment, components and systems. Replaces worn damaged or failed equipment and components in support of facility operations. Perform emergency repairs to systems, equipment and components. Record the as-found condition as well as the repaired condition. Experience with turbine, generator and associated auxiliary equipment maintenance and operation. Assists Engineering with modifications/revisions to plant systems, equipment and/or components. Demonstrates and conducts any required inspections/post-maintenance testing of systems, equipment and components as necessary to complete work packages and ensures systems, equipment and components are returned to operational conditions. Assists other employees in the performance of all maintenance tasks. Provides technical support for this work. Maintains accountability of property, including tools and maintenance equipment. Performs Preventive Maintenance tasks, following predetermined checklists in the performance of preventive maintenance. Understands and utilizes a variety of hand tools, power tools, measurement and test equipment in the performance of duties. Utilizes P&ID drawings, schematics, and technical specifications in locating and diagnosing trouble in components, equipment, and systems. Perform and follow Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures on equipment such as steam turbines, combustion turbines, generators, pumps valves, chillers, coolers and high voltage equipment Able to make repairs to steam turbine and combustion turbine auxiliary, prime movers and balance of plant equipment at Power Generation facilities. Complete all work in accordance with company Environmental, Health and Safety guidelines, policies, procedures and expectations. Working Conditions: Field Mobility Classification - Work will be performed in various field locations, as needed, after the onboarding period. However, field employees are required to live within a reasonable daily commute to their assigned work location Overtime including weekend work and holidays. The ideal candidate can be stationed near any Duke Energy generating facility in FL., and will need to live within 50 driving miles of the primary work location, Able to work/respond on short notice to support planned / unplanned / emergency site events. Required to wear a respirator and must be able to successfully complete a physical and respirator fit test on annual or as needed basis. Must be able to work at heights, from suspended work platforms and in confined spaces. This position requires field work at Power Generation facilities which includes exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust and humidity. This position requires travel approximately 50-75% in support Duke Energy Power Generation sites. Exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMF).
